In a milestone moment, we opened the first-ever sales of Dunoon Goes POP syrups this summer. Our small-batch production begins this week! Our soft drinks startup is selling a collection of rhubarb syrups to celebrate 150 years of Dunoon Burgh Hall.

Flavoured by local people and plants
Crafted by local people using Dunoon-grown rhubarb, with a twist of community spirit, the new small-batch syrups are inspired by Dunoon Burgh Hall Architect Robert ‘Bob’ Bryden.
We are making and selling 150 bottles of Rhubob-flavoured syrups in three batches of 50.
These limited-edition syrups come in three flavours – Rhubob & Custard, Rhubob & Ginger, Rhubob & Orange – and are available to buy now.

Buy the Dunoon Goes POP Rhubob syrups, add your own fizz, make a mocktail or cocktail, and raise a glass to celebrate 150 years of Dunoon Burgh Hall.
Almost half of the three-bottle deals have been sold so far. We will make the first batch this week, to be ready for the first collection at the end of July.
Hannah Clinch, co-founder of Dunoon Goes POP comments:
“Rhubarb stalks for our new syrups came from local people who grow the delicious plant in their gardens. We are excited to make and sell our first limited edition rhubarb-flavoured POP syrups with the help of people around Dunoon.”

More than profit
All proceeds from the bottle sales will be reinvested into growing the garden at the POP shop and developing Dunoon Goes POP as a self-sustaining social enterprise.
Bottles can be refilled for each new flavour at the POP shop. Buyers can pick up their bottles and enjoy learning more about the plants and people that have inspired the syrup flavours at our collection events.
From July to September, we will issue a new rhubarb flavour each month:
July: Sweet Rhubob & Custard
August: Zingy Rhubob & Orange
September: Spicy Rhubob & Ginger
With every purchase, buyers will receive a Rhubob POPtail recipe card so they can mix a special tipple with each of the syrups.

About Dunoon Goes POP
Dunoon Goes POP was established by the community interest company POP shop enterprises CIC. The POP shop’s mission is to design enterprising solutions to climate change that build health and wealth in our community.
As well as making syrups, through the project Dunoon Goes POP explored the heritage of soft drinks making in Dunoon, pioneered by the George Stirling soft drinks factory established in the 1880s. Through a series of community workshops, local people looked at food culture and heritage, exploring this area’s connection to the sugar and slave trade.
Through practical workshops, led by gardener Lynne Maclagan, local people helped the POP shop to create a new flavour garden for drinks making at the POP shop this year.
Dunoon Goes POP gave rhubarb plants to over 20 local people and organisations, including Dunoon Primary Schools, Clyde Cottage Nursery, Dunoon Foodbank and The Top Shop, to increase the volume of rhubarb grown locally. Take a look at our rhubarb growers map>
