About the event
We’re building raised beds using durable materials for the new Dunoon Goes POP drinks garden. Learn about the different steps and how to consider your impact on the planet as you get involved with building our new garden.
In this workshop, you will help us to clad the new steel frame raised beds.
You will:
- Learn how to use different materials to make a raised bed.
- Learn how to select sustainable gardening materials and think about your impact on the planet in our changing climate with a local gardener.
- Help us build our new Dunoon Goes POP drinks garden.
- Meet other local people interested in learning about gardening.
In a future workshop, to be booked separately, we fill the raised beds using a mixture of local and sustainable materials, including local wood, compost, seaweed and other soil improvers.
Why are we making a garden?
We’re making a new garden for Dunoon Goes POP, the soft drinks enterprise based at the POP shop in Dunoon. We want to bring soft drinks production back to Dunoon in a way that minimises our impact on the planet and maximises our positive impact on the community.
We’ll do this by connecting people to the fascinating heritage of soft drinks-making through practical workshops, growing ingredients and gathering local heritage stories. All workshops are free and everyone is welcome.
Thanks to National Lottery players, we have funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund and we’re running two Dunoon Goes POP projects to help us work towards a socially enterprising approach to local soft drinks production.
This project is also supported by Dunoon Community Development Trust and Grow Food, Grow Dunoon.
